The problem

The problem: what's on today is scattered

In a city like Valencia something is always going on: a gig in a small venue in Ruzafa, a one-day flea market in El Cabanyal, an exhibition that closes tomorrow, street music in El Carmen. That information is spread across agendas, websites, social media profiles and stories that disappear in 24 hours — and it rarely answers the question of someone who wants to go out now: what can I do right now, near me?

WannaNow brings together on one map what is happening and what is open at that moment, so deciding what to do takes seconds.

How it works

How WannaNow works

  1. When you open the app, the Map (Google Maps) shows within a couple of seconds the events and places around you, each in the colour of its category.
  2. You can switch between Eventos (events) and Lugares (places) and filter by 8 categories, by FREE (free only) or by NOW (only what is happening or open now).
  3. The search box filters the map live as you type.
  4. From Publicar (post), any user can share a plan they are at in 3–4 seconds; professionals post events with a date and venue.
  5. The community confirms with «Sigue ahí» (“still there”) that a plan is still on, and rates it with stars.

🇪🇸 Heads-up: The app is in Spanish for now — but it is essentially a map with icons, colours and two filters (NOW and FREE), so it is easy to use even if you don't speak Spanish. More languages are planned.

The concept

What “now” means in WannaNow

“Now” is the core idea of the app. In WannaNow it means three things:

  • Events in progress: with the NOW filter you only see events that are happening at that moment.
  • Open places: WannaNow takes opening hours into account; if a bar or a museum has already closed, it doesn't show up with NOW.
  • Spontaneous plans: what users share disappears after 2 hours, so the map reflects what is really going on, not what went on.

Other tools answer “what's on” in the city. WannaNow answers “what's happening now”.

Post

Differences

How WannaNow is different

WannaNow vs an events agenda

An agenda lists what is scheduled, usually by date and days in advance. WannaNow shows on a map what is happening at the moment, includes open places and spontaneous plans that appear in no agenda, and drops whatever has finished or closed.

WannaNow vs Google Maps

Google Maps shows places and their fixed details. WannaNow uses Google Maps as its map, but adds on top what is happening in and around those places — events, user plans, community confirmations — and lets you filter by category, free or “now”.

WannaNow vs Instagram and other social networks

On social media, plans are spread across profiles, posts and stories, with no filters for distance or time. WannaNow puts them on a map, sorted by category and location, and lets anyone share one in seconds.

WannaNow vs ticketing apps

WannaNow does not sell tickets or take bookings: it is a discovery app. There is a detailed comparison (in Spanish) in apps para saber qué hacer en Valencia.
